What is a Dzi bead?
Dzi beads form part of Tibetan and Himalayan adornment traditions and are commonly made from patterned agate. Rings, ovals, bands, waves and angular forms make up their visual language; an “eye” usually refers to a ring, oval or group of concentric lines. Their appeal for wearing and collecting brings together the colour of the stone, the bead’s shape and its individual pattern.
Banded agate and four pattern families
Our Dzi beads are made from banded agate, with contrasting colour zones across the curved surface. Rings and ovals create a focus through concentric forms; chevrons emphasise turns and points; arcs follow the curve; layered and parallel bands build their pattern through spacing, direction and contrast. Broad or fine, open or close-set bands give beads within the same family different characters.
Wear and bead proportion
Each bead includes a cord for pendant wear or individual collecting. The same motif reads differently on different proportions; this collection groups lengths as compact (under 35 mm), standard (35–45 mm) and long (over 45 mm), so compare length, maximum diameter and the whole silhouette together.

What is a Dzi bead?＋
Dzi, also written dZi or gzi, is a bead name associated with Tibetan and Himalayan adornment and collecting. Our collection brings together banded agate beads with distinctive lines, bands and rounded forms. Each work page shows the individual bead, its material, dimensions and visible pattern.

How do the patterns differ?＋
Use the pattern filters to compare angles and chevrons, arcs and bands, layers and parallel bands, or rings and ovals. Look at how a line travels across the bead and how light and dark areas frame it. These are visual groupings to help you browse; the photograph and description on each work page show that bead's particular character.
How do I compare the sizes?＋
The length filters group beads under 35 mm, from 35 to 45 mm, and over 45 mm. Compare the measurements on the product card as well as the silhouette in the photograph: a short, broad bead feels visually different from a long, slender one. Each work page includes its approximate measurements in millimetres.
Can I wear the bead? Is a cord included?＋
